Creaspine joins forces with leading European biotechnology initiative
It is no secret that the future of surgery lies in biotechnology applications and bio surgery.CREASPINE has identified this trend a long time ago...Creaspine originally started in 2005 its active membership and contribution to the European network REGENERATE on tissue engineering and biomaterials (Regeneration Medicine and Tissue Engineering- www.regenerate-world.org ).
Thanks to its active participation to this network, CREASPINE joined in 2009 the European project RECATABI - "REgeneration of CArdiac Tissue Assisted by Bioactive Implants”. The objective of the research project is to develop a patch to treat post-infarction damaged tissues and promote remodelling of necrotic areas of the injured tissue; said patch aims at regenerating functional cardiac tissue. In fact, heart failure is a major and growing public health problem in the developed countries .Today nearly 30 million people suffer from heart problems in Europe, and the incidence is increasing. Through RECATABI, CREASPINE is leveraging its experience and applying its expertise to reach other opportunities in new medical and biotechnology fields. As orthopaedic and cardiovascular surgical treatments converge in their need for biotechnology solutions, CREASPINE is well poised for growth offering more options for healthcare professionals and their patients.
